1. Introduction §

I'd like to start this blog with an article about a topic that has interested me since 2017. Cryptocurrencies have evolved at a break neck pace since I first became interested in the space. Decentralized applications, NFT's, DeFi were all theorectical concepts back then. In theory they were plausible, but in practice the throughput of existing layer 1 solutions were not capable of supporting the transaction volume required to make these concepts a reality.

Since then the space has evolved. I hope to be able to cover all of the major breakthroughs in the space but first I'd like to start with the original gene seed, Bitcoin. Digital Gold.
